Mansion House Scholars visit Checkprint

Staff at secure payments specialist Hinckley based Checkprint, a member of the TALL Group of Companies, played host to visitors from the prestigious Mansion House Scholarship Scheme earlier this month. The visitors spent the day in Leicestershire to find out more about a successful British SME based in the Midlands.

The Mansion House Scholarship Scheme provides the opportunity for students from overseas to visit the United Kingdom to study or to undertake training and work experience in the financial services sector. The selection of scholars is the personal gift of the Lord Mayor of the City of London and is based upon the advice of Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Consuls General in those countries which the Lord Mayor visits each year.

The group was also welcomed by The Worshipful, the Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Councillor Sandra Francks, during a visit to the Council, which included a tour of Council Chamber and brief speech with regard to how the Council works and how Mayor and Councillors are elected.

John Day, chairman of the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce, met the visitors and gave a background to the Chamber and its support of international trade.

Miss Vu Thu Trang , a Mansion House Scholar commented on the event:

“It was a very interesting experience for me to see a new successful model of an SME business based in the Midlands. I was very interested in how Checkprint promotes innovation as well as keeping up with the evolution of the payment market”

Vu Thu Trang is aged 24 and comes for Hanoi where she has been working as a senior auditor with Ernst & Young Vietnam Ltd, whom she joined in 2007. She is a graduate of the Foreign Trade University in Hanoi, where she gained a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics in 2006. Miss Trang is currently at the University of Durham Business School studying for her MBA.

Checkprint has worked with the Mansion House Scholarship scheme since winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in 2005.
